Dr Nevena Ćurčić

For several years now, I have been supporting people who, at some point in their life, find it difficult to cope on their own with problems they encounter in living. I am a fully qualified, BACP registered counsellor, working in my private practice as well as in the voluntary sector.

I offer both time-limited and open-ended therapy, depending on the concerns that bring you to counselling. These may vary in nature and intensity and can be experienced as a blockage, loss, conflict or some more elusive trouble. My primary concern in therapy is to create a warm and respectful relationship that would help you to feel safe to express your concerns as openly as you can. I do not diagnose, appraise or judge. Rather, I try to understand the story you tell about your problems so that we can find new ways of understanding and coping with distress or confusion. My approach is informed by various bodies of therapeutic knowledge, all of which emphasise the importance of collaborative work towards achieving greater clarity about your experiences, values and what you are prepared to do to live a more meaningful and satisfying life.

With my former academic interest in social anthropology/cultural studies and my personal experience of living in different cultures, I developed a keen interest in how people negotiate their complex sense of belonging and reshape their sense of identity. I enjoy working with people from diverse cultural background.

I subscribe to the Ethical Framework of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, a copy of which may be found at .
